Welcome to my Garden

Can you camp in someone's garden ? The answer is Yes.

There are several websites offering to connect cycle tourist and hikers with hosts, after some research the one that stood out for me was Welcome to my Garden.

UPDATE - For travelers there is now a membership fee. But you can still host for free.

Site Internet Français

It is a free to use website for hosts. For slow travelers you now have to become a member for 36 euros a year to be able to contact hosts. You can still access the map of hosts without signing up.

After becoming a member it is  free to contact a host if they are near your route. Services provided by the host are listed, most offer a pitch with access to a toilet and water some offer much more. There are choice boxes so you can add known cycle route, which is a useful feature.

The site has guidelines including a maximum stay of 48 hours and arriving in a motor vehicle is strictly forbidden.

Finding your host is done via an interactive map or search box, once you have found a host you can use the websites chat feature to arrange your stay.

We have not used Welcome to my Garden but plan to this summer. We have hosted several slow travelers and look forward to welcoming more travelers.
