This Cycle way was completed in November 2021 and stretches for 18.4kmn between Dole and Mont-sous-Vaudrey in the Jura.
This new route which follows an old railway line, which before closing connected the two historic towns of Dole, home of Louis Pasteur and Poligny famous for its wine and cheese.
The route has been completely rebuilt and laid with tarmac so suitable for all ages and abilities.
Yesterday in spring sunshine we rode the voie vert Jules Grévy from Mont-sous-Vaudrey. The surface may have been laid and the barriers and road marking have been finished, signage was still missing.
We found the route using cycle.travel.
The first section is straight and flat giving glimpses of local villages. At Parcey you cross the river Loue on a impressive wrought iron bridge, the village offers shop and beach with access to the river.
After Parcey the terrain changes with forests on your left and fields of crops on your right, there are several small streams to cross before you reach the outskirts of Dole where you cross the rivers Doubs with a wonderful view of the Collégiale Notre-Dame sat on the hill.
The last bridge on our adventure takes you over the canal Rhone and Rhine which the EV6 follows. Dole is a beautiful old town packed with history and wonderful architecture so if time allows couple of days to explore is recommended.
The Voie Vert Is named after Jules Grévy the only President of France who was born in the Jura Department.
