Tour of Lac Annecy
The 40 km of Voie Verte (cycle ways ) and shared route that surrounds Lac Annecy it is one of the most popular rides for cycle tourists and locals in France.
Nearly all the route is on voie verte which can be busy as you approach Annecy. Be prepared for a few cycle bells trilling in your direction if you are traveling on the slow side.
You will pass next to the lake with its clear waters, and there are many mountains vistas to take in. The route is flat except for a few shortish climbs.
Allow plenty of time for cafe stops and maybe a swim in the lake, the cool clear waters are very tempting. The beautiful old town offers plenty of choice for dinning and shopping. There are many museums and Chateaus to visit some are listed below.
At this time they are extending the voie vert between Balmettes and Verthier so expect diversions. Work should be finished in 2022. Route guide >>
The Château de Menthon is a medieval castle located in the commune of Menthon-Saint-Bernard and has been used as a film location for a Disney movie.
