Voie La FrancoVéloSuisse

The FrancoVéloSuisse is a 48 km Cycleway linking the towns of Belfort, Delle and Porrentruy in Switzerland.

It is also part of the Switzerland Mobile routes, under number 64: "Lötschberg - Jura - Belfort".

The project for a Franco-Swiss cycle path was started in 1999 with a partnership between the Department of the Territory of Belfort and the Republic and Canton of Jura.

The Voie FrancoVéloSuisse now joins the Eurovelo 6 and the Swiss National Route 7.

Belfort is a historic town with many cultural treasures . You can visit  the fortification built by Vauban.

Next to the fort is The Lion of Belfort which is monumental sculpture measuring 22 metres in length and 11 metres in height, created by Frédéric-Auguste Barthold,  between 1875 and 1880. It commemorates the town’s resistance to the siege laid by the Prussians during the Franco-Prussian War (1870-1871).

It was a memorable event for the town, because its population’s heroic struggle kept it French, unlike neighbouring communities in Alsace. This can be seen in the architecture and the names of local wines amongst other things.

At the boarder town of Delle there is a local cycle route called :

LES TRACES DES DINOSAURES

On this 57 km ride discover History and Prehistory through the landscapes of Ajoie.

We have not ridden this route yet, but plan to visit in the spring, so will add more photos and a VLOG once completed.
